POINTLESS PROMO

The night’s guest reeked of whiskey.

“So you have a new movie coming out,” the talk show host asked.

“I’m drunk. The movie’s shit. And after the release I’m joining the circus.” Ian shrugged. “For excitement’s sake.”

“So this is pointless?”

“Yep,” Ian said, then stood up and walked out.

THE WORLD’S MOST PERFECT GAME

“Let’s play chess.”

Carson sighed. “You think because we watched a show that you liked we should play chess?”

“Queen’s Gambit,” Shirlene said. “You liked it too. A lot.”

“Yeah, but I don’t like you. A lot.

“Uh…oka — ”

“I want a divorce.”

The couple would never play chess together.

BREAKDOWN LANE

Xavier sped after the men that had stolen the nuclear codes. Then his car broke down, strangely at the same his cell phone stopped working.

“Shit,” he grunted, and punched the steering wheel. “Well, I guess this is a problem for another day.”

He walked home to call a mechanic.
